Introduction to Smoke Control
Smoke control systems are specified in Chapter 9 of the International Building Code and are mandated by NFPA. Systems include architectural features, fans, air intakes and exhaust, sensors, and the control panel. This course will walk you through, in detail, an introductory overview of smoke control systems in commercial and healthcare facilities.
Course length: Approximately 2.5 hours
In this course, students will gain an introduction to Smoke Control Systems and their importance to a facility’s overall fire protection system.
Gain a basic understanding of the principles of smoke management & the codes around them
Gain thorough knowledge of the concepts of containment and compartmentation
Acquire understanding of the basic testing requirements
Understand the basic maintenance protocols of smoke systems
